Six men have been found guilty of a string of sex offences relating to the sexual exploitation of teenage girls in Rotherham more than a decade ago.

  • Masaued Malik, 35, of HMP Doncaster convicted of indecent assault was jailed for a mere 5 years will follow on from a 15-year term he is already serving for similar offences.
  • Aftab Hussain, 40, York Road, Rotherham S65 1, convicted of indecent assault was jailed for 24 years. Aftab Hussain was convicted again in 2024 for a 3rd child rape.
  • Waseem Khaliq, 35, of Eldon Street, Netherthorpe, Sheffield, S1 4, was jailed for ten years last month after being convicted of child abduction and indecent assault following a six-week trial.
  • At the outset of the trial, Judge Michael Slater placed a reporting restriction on Khaliq’s identity after defence counsel argued that reporting his involvement in the trial could prejudice a jury involved in his second trial.

  • Judge Michael Slater criticised the authorities for not taking action.
  • Mohammed Ashan, 35, of HMP Somewhere pleaded guilty to indecent assault charges before the trial began. Admitted three counts of indecent assault against girls under the age of 16, gets 18 years behind bars after pleading guilty to three indecent assaults between 1999 and 2001.
  • It has emerged that Ahsan is already serving time behind bars after being convicted of murder in March 2006.
  • In November 2005 the scumbag Mohammed Ahsan stabbed 19-year-old Kimberly Fuller in an attack at a Rotherham nightclub after she accused him of pinching her bottom. Kimberly had surgery on a three-inch wound to her neck at Rotherham Hospital but doctors were unable to save her.

  • At the 2006 sentencing in Sheffield, Judge Roger Keen branded Ahsen — previously jailed for threatening a former partner with a knife — “bad tempered, vicious and violent towards people, particularly women”.
  • The court heard that Kimberly’s last words to her mother were: “Mum, stop worrying. I’m 19 now.”
  • Her family later campaigned for airport-style metal detectors and scanners in nightclubs and backed a nationwide knife amnesty.

During the five-week trial, the jury heard how the girls were targeted due to their vulnerability and were given alcohol and drugs before some were raped by multiple men.

Violence was sometimes used to ensure they complied, the court heard.

Jurors also heard Saddiq raped a girl in an alleyway when she was aged 14 or 15, then taunted her mother.

The father-of-four admitted having sex with some of the complainants, but claimed they were over age at the time and consented.

The convictions are the latest to arise from a major National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation, Operation Stovewood.

It looked into sexual abuse and exploitation in Rotherham covering the years 1997 to 2013.

The agency has said it believes 1,510 teenagers were exploited in the town during the period.

Senior investigating officer Philip Marshall said the men had exploited vulnerable girls for their own sexual gratification.

Kate Hurst, from the Crown Prosecution Service, added: “Each of these men knew the girls were either vulnerable and underage. They were reckless and did not care if they were children or not.”
