She later had an abortion.

The three men were part of a violent sex grooming ring convicted in 2013 of abusing six girls from Oxford over an eight-year period after a police operation codenamed Bullfinch.

After the unanimous verdicts for charges including indecent assault, conspiracy to rape and rape were read out, Mohammed Karrar clapped the jury.

Prosecutor Oliver Saxby QC said the victim was “a lonely, vulnerable young girl” who was given “somewhere to hang out”.

The victim, who was 14 when she first met her abusers, said: “I didn’t think I was being abused as I felt good about all these people liking me.”

The men plied her with alcohol and drugs and told her to perform sex acts on them in flats, parks and parked cars around Oxford.

Oxford grooming trial: Man denies raping schoolgirl in flat

5 December 2018

A man has denied raping a 15-year-old girl, but admitted he engaged in a sex act with her in a park.

Anjum Dogar, 36, told Oxford Crown Court he thought the schoolgirl was over the age of 16 at the time.

Prosecutors have accused Mr Dogar of raping the girl in 2004 in Plowman Tower in Headington, Oxford, with co-defendant Mohammed Karrar.

Mr Dogar, Mohammed Karrar, 44, and his brother Bassam, 39, deny 10 offences, including rape and indecent assault.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she was raped by Mr Dogar and Mohammed Karrar when she passed out in the flat after drinking.

She said she became pregnant as a result and chose to have an abortion.

But Mr Dogar said he had never been to Plowman Tower, nor did he know the owner of the flat.

People carrier

When asked by defence counsel Jacob Hallam QC, he said: “I never set foot in Plowman Tower.”

He added the alleged victim “rarely got drunk”.

Mr Dogar admitted the girl, and one of her friends, performed a sex act on him in South Parks in Oxford in about August 2004 but he said he assumed the girl and her friend were over 16.

Earlier, prosecutors said Mr Dogar had threatened the complainant and forced her to perform a sex act on him, and other men, in a people carrier parked in Cutteslowe Park.

He denied this and said the girl entered the people carrier of her own free will.

He said he did not engage in sexual activity on this occasion, but said: “I was aware that there was some kind of sex activity going on.”

The trial continues.

Oxford grooming trial accused ‘met accuser when she was 17’

4 December 2018

One of three men accused of raping and sexually abusing a vulnerable schoolgirl has denied meeting her until she was 17.

Mohammed Karrar, 44, who is accused of offences against the girl between 2002 and 2005, told jurors at Oxford Crown Court he first saw her in 2006.

He said the pair had only met “seven or eight times” prior to his arrest.

Mr Karrar, his brother Bassam, 39, and Anjum Dogar, 36, deny 10 charges, including rape and indecent assault.

The court was told Mohammed Karrar, who further denies conspiracy to rape, was convicted in 2013 for offences involving teenage girls.

‘Didn’t force her’

As he was giving evidence, he disputed the woman’s testimony, saying he met her “seven or eight times” before he was arrested by police.

He admitted engaging in a sex act with her once, which he said she instigated, at Plowman Tower in Headington, where the mother of his child lived.

Dorian Lovell-Pank QC, defending asked Mr Karrar: “Did you force her in any way?”

No,” he said.

He said he was approached by the complainant and her friend in 2006, when she spoke to him about her child.

Earlier, the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, accused Mr Karrar of raping her in the flat complex, alongside Mr Dogar.

She previously told the court she had become pregnant after the encounter and subsequently had an abortion. She said she was 15 at the time.

Mr Dogar denies rape, conspiracy to rape and indecent assault.

Bassam Karrar denies indecent assault and rape.

The trial continues.
