The latest men convicted as part of Operation Tourway, a multi-year investigation into the non-recent sexual exploitation of young girls in North Kirklees.   

• Twenty-five men have been jailed for the rape, sexual abuse & trafficking of 8 girls in North Kirklees from 1999-2012 at Leeds Crown Court so far a total of 73 have been charged in Operation Tourway.

said: “The conviction and sentencing of these latest eight men represents a significant milestone for victims in this case.   

“Their bravery in coming forwards and identifying their abusers has allowed us to take action against men whose offending and behaviour can only be described as abhorrent in the extreme.   

He added: “Throughout the last two years juries have heard details of absolutely shocking offending committed against victims in these cases.  

“Some of these men received in excess of 20 years each for the multiple offences they committed and the unbelievably callous and degrading way in which they treated these then young girls.

“Men such Asif Ali, who alone was found guilty of 14 rape offences, committed appalling sexual abuse on a scale which can barely be believed, and saw their young victims as defenceless commodities to be abused and traded at whim.

Operation Tourway 1st Groups Charges

In December 2020 32 alleged men where charged and bailed to reappear in court at a later date 25 of them are now serving jail time have been sentenced as part of five trials heard at Leeds Crown Court between 2022 and 2024 the rest are still charged and it has has not been reported otherwise.

• Twenty-eight men accused of sexually exploiting eight girls have appeared in court.
• Most of the men, largely from the Kirklees area of West Yorkshire, are charged with rape against victims aged between 13 and 16.
• All the offences are said to have taken place in parts of Kirklees, Bradford and Wakefield between 1999 to 2012.
• The men were released on conditional bail after hearings at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.
• Four men were not in court to hear proceedings, which were held on Friday and Monday.

• Forty-two people have been charged during a police investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation (CSE) in West Yorkshire.
• The 39 men and three women, most from Kirklees, have been charged with a variety of offences.
