A rape gang member rapist who attacked a schoolgirl in Enfield has been jailed after absconding in a bid to evade justice.
Morteza Bandali, 22, left the UK four days before a magistrate’s court hearing in 2019 following an incident when he was 17.
The victim had travelled to London from Bristol on August 13, 2016.
In London, she was robbed by one man, and then imprisoned in a residential block in Enfield. It was here that she was sexually assaulted and raped by the four defendants.
Roberto French, Abdisalam Mohamad and Hilal Mohamed were jailed for 45 years earlier this year.
Bandali was originally arrested in May 2017 and charged on June 17, 2019, but a trial took place without him when he left the UK on July 11.
He had travelled to Europe and returned to London, only to be arrested in West London on February 5, 2020, for failing to appear.
The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to rape at the same court on July 1, having initially denied them.
Morteza Bandali, of School Way, Finchley appeared before Southwark Crown Court on September 22 and was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment.
