Boy, 15, arrested on suspicion of rape in Exeter city centre

The suspect remains in police custody

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Exeter. A scene guard was placed along Catherine Street in the city centre after reports of a serious sexual assault in the early hours of this morning, Thursday, September 26.

A suspect was arrested and her remains in police custody at this time. The victim is being supported by specially trained officers.

A cordon was in place next to Drakes Coffee House but has since been removed. Police say enquiries into the incident continue.

Devon and Cornwall Police has said: “Police were notified in the early hours of this morning [Thursday 26 September] following reports of a rape in Exeter City Centre. A scene guard was put in place at Catherine Street.

“A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody at this time.

“The victim is being support by specially trained officers as enquiries continue.”
