A rapist attacked a woman while she was asleep in Edmonton after twice telling him she did not want to have sex with him.
Emeka Ugoh, 33, was found guilty of rape by a jury in just 90 minutes at Wood Green Crown Court on Thursday, February 13.
He was sentenced to nine years in prison at the same court on Friday, February 14. He received an extra 28-day sentenced for failing to surrender.
The jury heard during the trial that Ugoh had been out celebrating New Year’s Eve 2017 and then stayed the night at a house in Enfield.
The victim was also staying in the house that night.
During the night, on two occasions, Ugoh attempted to have sex with the victim. On both occasions she clearly said no and sent him away.
However, on the morning of New Year’s Day 2018, the victim awoke to find Ugoh raping her.
She reported the incident to police and was supported by specialist officers.
