Remorseless Luton man raped uniformed school girl in alleyway on her way to school then ‘gave her £10’
A remorseless 23-year-old man from Luton raped a 15-year-old school girl in uniform after targeting her while she waited at a bus stop on her way to school.
On March 10 last year Deangelo Brown, 23, from Luton demanded the victim follow him after suggesting he had a weapon and took her to an alley near Harlesden High Street where he raped her.
He gave her £10 as he left.
The rape was recorded by a witness on her mobile phone who was alarmed after hearing screams and cries and saw the teenager being attacked.
The witness called the police and comforted the victim until officers arrived. Brown was arrested nearby.
Brown was jailed for nine years and will spend four years on licence today (January 28) after being found guilty of rape and sexual activity with a child following an earlier trial at Harrow Crown Court.
The woman who intervened was awarded £800 by the judge.
Brown had claimed he was a victim of mistaken identity, however he was identified from CCTV and the mobile phone footage, as well as being picked out of a line up in an identity parade by the victim.
Kerry McNulty, senior crown prosecutor in the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “This was a horrific sexual attack in broad daylight on a child in school uniform.
“The prosecution case included CCTV evidence of Brown in the vicinity and mobile phone footage of the attack itself. The young victim was also able to pick out her attacker during an identity parade.
“Brown has shown no remorse and subjected his victim to the ordeal of going through a trial despite the overwhelming evidence against him.”
Ms McNulty added: “Throughout proceedings Brown claimed he had been a victim of mistaken identity, but the jury decided otherwise.
“The young victim in this case has shown immense courage by coming to court to give evidence against her attacker, and I hope this conviction goes some way in helping her move forward in her life.”
